Back to School season begins! Besides the pencils, paper and backpacks, your student will need a fresh style to make the grade. Here are the trends to look for this fall that will leave the little scholar in your life at the top of the class, or at least the envy of all their friends.
Fall to the Side

Ponies, braids and everything in between is the biggest trend for fall. Whether you embody the true essence of the 80s and place your pony above your ear or you go for the more subtle low, off-center, side pony, this look is sure to turn heads in the halls. But wait! Don’t stop there. Turn your pony into a braid. Whether simple, fishtail or French, braids offer an easy no fuss style that lasts all day.

I love Tigi Catwalk Session Series Transforming Dry Shampoo. End of story. Well, since you insist…
No it’s not the incredibly long name that makes this product stand out; it’s the AMAZING scent, volume and oil-absorption power that makes this one a hair care fav!
For those of you unsure of dry shampoo, let me put your mind at ease. I never thought I could go a day without a shampoo, but after using Catwalk Session Series Dry Shampoo I only lather up 3-4 times per week. Now before you say, “ewww," remember for healthy hair, stylists say it is essential to shampoo as little as possible. Frequent shampoos dry out your hair which in turn cause frizz and opens the door to color fade.
So what’s an oily-scalp to do? Catwalk’s Session Series Dry Shampoo! What makes this product different is instead of leaving your hair with a powdery-white look, this formula goes on clean while adding a boost of volume. Not only did it change my mind, it made me a devotee for life!
To use: Be sure to brush your hair first. You want to redistribute some of that natural oil to the ends of your hair. After, lift your hair and spray directly at the roots. You can use this product all over your scalp but to conserve product stick to the areas that are visible (the top, crown and sides).
Don’t be fooled by the simple packaging either, this is a must for eliminating second-day hair grease, leaving you with hair that is fresh and that smells amazing too!
If my endorsement isn’t proof enough msn’s glo.com named this product in their “Powder Play – Which Dry Shampoos Really Work” article.
Fade to black? How about fade to blonde…?
Love it or hate it, the latest trend in hair color is ombré highlights. We first noticed this trend on shows like Beverly Hills 90210 (the new class) and in celebrity style reports dating back to 2010, (even though I suspect Carrie Bradshaw trumped Hollywood with this trend!) Thinking about trying it? Keep reading!
For you trivia buffs, the term ombré (pronounced 'om-bray') means two colors fade into each other. This is typically done from dark to light or vice versa, and until recently was found mainly in fabrics. In hair it means just the same. Typically we see dark at the scalp which fades into a caramel or blonde color, but I have seen (and even done) the opposite.
If you are concerned about what you would look like with this new trend (it’s not just grown out roots), keep in mind that you can keep the highlights towards the ends of your hair, and have the stylist take your hair only a few shades lighter than your natural color. This look is much more subtle, and this little highlight around your face will not only make your eyes more pronounced, but it will complement your summer glow.

One of the best kept secrets in hair care is a high shine gloss service. Essentially, it’s a clear coat on your hair… kind of like the top coat on your nail polish. What’s so special about it? Our stylists at Plaza 94 in St. Peters, Mo., walk you through some awesome benefits!

Who doesn't want healthy, shiny hair? I know I do! High shine gloss is like a gloss 'n go treatment that adds mega shine to dull, lifeless hair. How does it work? Well, it seals the cuticle of the hair shaft, making it reflect light, which makes it shine! How simple is that?

And the coveted Golden Popcorn goes to…
Even though the official “award season” is over, we can still look to our friends at MTV for throwing a bash worth watching, and having guests with hair worth stealing.
A lot of the styles last night were relaxed and effortless, in line with the vibe of the event. Stars like Jennifer Aniston and Jessica Biel wore their hair smooth and straight, while others like Kristen Stewart went for the messy, wild look!
My top five for the night are…
5. Victoria Justice

This star showed off her gorgeous locks with an off-center part and curls that I suspect were done with a curling wand. This tool gives you effortless waves like these which also shows off her ombré highlights nicely.

May/June is the time for dances, parties and the ultimate combination of the two… weddings. If you’re planning on turning your hair into a work of art or you just want it to stay put, Paul Mitchell Extra-Body Firm Finishing Spray should be in your tool kit.

This is a finishing spray. You don’t want to use it during styling, because it will just make the task more difficult. Instead, once every strand is in its proper place, break out this strong-hold hairspray for a worry-free night of shiny, voluminous hair that stays in its place.
As always, with any hairspray make sure you are holding the can 8-10” away from your head, and keep the can moving to avoid too much product in one spot. In addition to a strong hold, this product provides loads of volume, fights frizz and even protects your hair from sun damage. So, if you want some seriously voluminous hair that lasts all night (think even Adele's famous 'do), Paul Mitchell's Extra-Body Firm Finishing Spray will get the job done.

Summer is coming, and for many of us it feels as though it is already here! Whether it’s an annual camping trip, BBQs or graduation parties, lots of activities are held outdoors. So what’s a girl to do when she wants to keep her long hair but also wants to beat the heat?
Simple answer: braids, buns and ponys. These simple yet chic alternatives to wearing your hair down will keep you cool and at the cutting edge of styles.
Ponys were all over the red carpet this award season. There were ponys worn high, ponys worn low yet all were simple and chic. Just because you are wearing your hair up, remember you still want to dry it properly and smooth the ends whether they’re curly or straight. Tease your crown just a bit and smooth or finger comb back the sides. To finish off the pony take a piece and wrap it around the hair tie and secure with a bobby pin.

Ladies, we’ve all been there. Maybe you didn't have time to wash your hair this morning, or maybe you only wash every other day to prevent color fade. Either way, the top of your hair looks a little oily and lifeless. Teasing could do the trick, but here's a another idea to achieve awesome volume before walking out the door:
